Fall 2010 Fashion Trends - Fur and Fifties

Just when it looked like fur was on its way out the door it made its comeback with a bang during the Fall 2010 runway season. Another fashion trend which has made its way back to the forefront is '50s glamor with an emphasis on cleavage, pencil skirts, and many more of everybody's favorite throwback styles. Fall Fur is Fabulous Again Peta members will be none to pleased to find out that despite their various celebrity-driven "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" campaigns, fur is back. Thankfully, faux fur is easy to find, it looks just like the real thing, and it is considerably more affordable. Even the great Karl Lagerfeld has given his stamp of approval on faux fur by displaying it throughout the Chanel runway show! As far as fabulous fashion decades are concerned, the fifties is at the top because of its trendsetting ability and sheer longevity. Celebrities like Zooey Deschanel, Rachel Bilson, and Chloe Sevigny have always made it cool to wear vintage clothes but this Autumn '10 season, retro fashion will be one of the hottest trends. One way the '50s era stood out on the runways was with the prevalence of cleavage. This was quite a departure because cleavage is usually saved for swimsuit and lingerie shows, but not this time around. The Nina Ricci collection for instance showed curve-hugging pencil skirts paired with a bustier for maximum curves. Perhaps Chrisina Hendricks from Mad Men is to thank for the surge of body-hugging, retro looks since the same trend was also seen on the runways of Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana.
